… directors face a tougher uphill battle when it comes to getting popularised and viewed as auteurs. Greta Gerwig, Sofia Coppola, and the Wachowski sisters are the closest that come to mind, but even then, there are clearly huge gaps in how much of their filmography I’ve viewed.
